Need Help with Home Heating Costs?
Updated: Mar 17, 2021
Home Energy Assistance Program

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps qualified homeowners and renters pay for heating costs. Benefits include paying for fuel and emergency fuel delivery and due to COVID-19, there's an increased need for this program statewide. Here at Community Concepts, we've processed 1,000 more applications this year compared to last year at this time. Our CEO Shawn Yardley also shared some additional information about the program with Maine Public Radio
Am I eligible?
Anyone who may need help paying for heat should apply even if you application has been turned down before. HEAP benefits are based on your household size, income, and home energy costs. Apply even if you may be over the income limits, because there may be adjustments made to your income used for HEAP eligibility.
What if my heat is included in my rent?
You can still apply even if heat is part of your rent.
How do I apply?
Call Community Concepts as soon as you can because appointments fill up fast. Ask what you need to bring with you. You can also apply over the phone.
